Aroma Therapy Massages

If your busy schedule is leaving you stressed out and feeling tense and pressured, take some time to relax with a professional massage... especially one in which aromatic oils are used.
While massage itself serves to reduce physical strain, the addition of essential oils will take the overall effect to entirely new levels.
With the proven effectiveness of aromatherapy oils, the body responds amazingly well to certain aromatic compounds, due to the volatile nature of the oils. When inhaled, for example, some preparations create a relaxation response that can reduce physical as well as mental stress. Some oils are also absorbed by the skin and can enhance the overall effect achieved by the fragrance.
But it's important to use natural oils, those extracted from plants, rather than synthetic formulations that came from a laboratory. The effects of these "unnatural" oils are unknown, at best, and potentially harmful at worst. Don't be fooled by price. And don't try to save by buying the cheapest products without researching them first.
When searching for a good massage therapist, try to find someone who really knows what they are doing. It's also to your benefit to find someone who understands the benefits of aromatic essences and is proficient and knowledgeable in their use.
If you are unable to find someone through word of mouth reference, call a local professional organization, if one exists in your area, and get a list of practitioners who use aromatherapy in their practices. Many cities now have Massage Schools and can be a wealth of information for recommendations as well.
Whether you are looking for a career, or just to learn the techniques for family and friends, you may wish to enroll at one of the schools in your area.
If you prefer to learn aromatherapy massage for home use without becoming a serious professional, there are courses, as well as books and videos, that can be found on the Internet, along with stores that sell the oils themselves. Learn first what you need and how to use it, then locate an online store to purchase the items.
Consult with an experienced professional for advice on how to use the various essential oils, and how to apply them. Once you have enjoyed your own aromatherapy massage experience, you will want to know more... and you will want to do it again.

Spa Party Games for Healthy Relaxation

By Gail Leino

Spa party games sound like trivia or card games based on favorite Chick-Lit books or movies. They can be or they can also be based on nutrition, diet or exercise guessing games. Really anything that brings a round of light amusement to the gang waiting for their facial or turn in the mud is great fun for this party meant to relieve stress.

Mud Body painting:

This Spa party game themed idea is a great way to have a little fun with your mud or clay masks at the spa party. You can make this game competitive by giving an award at the end of the session for the most artistic body art. Spread out a large floor cloth to keep the mud from getting everywhere and you’ll also need plenty of mud, brushes and some water.

Guests at the Spa party games will get in groups of three and paint on each other’s bodies. They can paint anywhere on the body, but the back makes the largest canvas.

Caloric Count:

Try guessing games like guessing the caloric content of certain fruits, vegetables or other foods at your Spa party games. Set a nice example of different foods on display with a numbering system. Leave paper and pencils for guests to write their guesses on and then drop them into a box with a slot on top. Later on open the box and see whose guesses were the closest. You can give the food examples as prizes to the guests who were closest in their guesses.

Spa parties for the after work crowd center around the home Jacuzzi, lap-pool, sauna or other relaxing home spa equipment. This can be a summer evening party with all the decorations of a back yard pool party or can be a winter warm up in the basement spa. The basic decorating theme for this party can incorporate all of the traditional elements of other similar seasonal parties. Hot chocolate by the fireplace served in sturdy ceramic cups for winter or fresh lemonade served in spa party paper party cups for summer. Either season is the time for fresh salad and fruits served on paper spa party plates.

Hot Tub Benefits

For thousands of years warm water has been a great relief for many of the ailments that the rich fabric of life brings.
In ancient Times in Egypt, Greece & Rome it was a very common practice to enjoy long hot soaks, not only was it considered to be a ritual but much more than that it was known to help bring relief from the very many aches and pains of life. In those days there were small water pools which had warm water piped into them from natural hot springs. We still have those today but these usually smell of sulfur and are not always pleasant.

The belief which I do not accept for one moment is that it is only natural hot springs that have any beneficial healing effect as the chemicals in these pools are supposed to have magical cures, but it is in fact just the warm water that does the trick!
A modern Hot Tub with the latest fully adjustable water and air jets is in my view much superior to a natural hot spring.
A factory Hot tub I am afraid does not have the thousand year old setting but it is undoubtedly wonderful therapy, and the water is better for your skin.
As soon as you immerse yourself in a Hot Tub and enjoy the warm spa water, it causes two very beneficial physiological events to take place in your body.
Firstly of these, which is a scientific fact, is that it makes the capillaries in the body to increase thereby providing an increased blood flow to through your body and of course to your skin. Naturally an increased blood flow blood means better circulation and of course with goes the life force that makes up the Human Body with the nutrients that we need to maintain life.
Secondly, it slightly increases your heart rate which adds to the increased blood flow throughout your whole body.
As we are made up mainly by water something like in excess of 90% is water, the fluids in our bodies are neutral (or nearly neutral) in weight. Our fluids then identify with the water in the spa (natural buoyancy) which means that the pressure of gravity on our circulatory system is very much reduced. This has the effect of making the distance between your heart and your feet much less. Although in reality, of course, this is not the case. The blood that the Chinese medicine doctor’s call stagnant (really slow) is now able to move much more freely and it does so because of open capillaries (heat), and buoyancy (water).
There is however one very thing that one should do to get the full benefit and that is to let go and just relax. Then the beneficial benefits of Hydrotherapy and Hydro massage help to provide respite and healing. Simply the blood flow is now in your body and not in your head, and your mind can start to slow down and relax and be in a more peaceful state.
